Educating Oklahoma’s Future Coders
Who We Are
What is OK Coders?
OK Coders was founded in 2014 by the University of Oklahoma’s Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (I-CCEW) to help meet Oklahoma’s growing demand for software developers. Oklahoma’s nascent startup scene combined with its high quality of life and low cost of living is attracting national attention, but there is an unmet demand for technical talent.
OK Coders accepts all contributions through Techlahoma Foundation.
What We Offer
OK Coders offers beginner and intermediate coding bootcamps for adults 18+ in OKC. Bootcamps cover current development technologies and are taught by software engineers from the local tech community, making OK Coders ideal for anyone ready to kickstart their coding career or pick up a new hobby.
What We Teach
The core program of OK Coders is our full-stack web development bootcamp that uses a javascript-based stack. The full-stack bootcamp is made up of six 4-week modules that together make up an intro to web development. In addition to this core offering, we occasionally offer supplementary coursework, and partner with additional organizations to provide added benefits.

The best part of OK Coders was meeting other people in the tech community, which ultimately led to me finding the resources I needed to get a job.
- FORMER STUDENT
OK Coders offered its first bootcamp in OKC in 2014 and graduated a class of 20. Since then, we’ve run over 20 bootcamps covering a variety of programming topics in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Over 350 adults from a variety of backgrounds and careers have now been through OK Coders bootcamps and become part of the tech community in Oklahoma. Participants have a variety of education levels and job titles. All are welcome that have a desire to learn something new!
While OK Coders doesn’t have a formal job placement program, over 1/3 of past participants now work as full-time software developers, with an additional percentage now working in programming adjacent tech fields. Not everyone who takes OK Coders decides programming is the right fit, and that’s okay! Our goal is to provide an affordable, accessible way for people to explore new skills and determine if a career in software development is for them.
