Inspiring Individuals
Member of the Month

Chelsea has been a long time volunteer an speaker for SheCodesOKC! Chelsea's positive attitude is evident from the moment you meet her. I always look forward to seeing her at Techlahoma events.

Kyler does many things as a Techlahoma volunteer, from running meet-ups, taking on one-off projects, to taking event photos for Techlahoma marketing to name a few. Her passion and dedication to the Techlahoma community seems boundless, and her constant ideation on how to make Techlahoma better and engage the community is inspiring.
Kyler always has a smile on her face, and makes you feel heard and appreciated. She can't be stopped by anything negative and is undeterred by obstacles. She is a beam of positivity and can always be counted on for absolutely anything.

She is super dedicated to computer sciences and encourages women around her to get involved.
Vivian is a very friendly and outgoing person. We engage in many activities on campus together and she is always willing to help if needed. She does well academically, staying ahead in all of her courses while making sure she does it right the first time. I believe she would be a perfect candidate for Member of the month.
She has a great personality and is willing to help anytime. She is a great student an works ahead in her coursework. She is involved in school club activities. I believe she would be a great member of the month.

Chris has been a support on all things Techlahoma. From website admin help to task management, Chris has been a constant assist in making Techlahoma succeed.
He's an extremely active member who is a well of knowledge. If someone needs help and he's able to help them, Chris is right there to lend a hand. He's doing what I want to be doing in my senior years in tech: making kick-a** products, opening doors for others, and being a positive presence and change in the community. Chris is the type of person that doesn't demand recognition for his work, but it would be a shame to not thank him publicly for all of the work he's done privately. People that know Chris are better for it, and that's why he should be recognized.

Patricia has spoken at SheCodesOKC, is a mentor, supports the tech community in Norman, and volunteers behind the scenes for Techlahoma!
Patricia has a wonderful ability to put one at ease. I've experienced this and seen her apply it consistently at Techlahoma events. Patricia always exudes genuine interest in and curiosity about the people around her and is adept at creating an accpeting environment where everyone feels safe to share, ask questions, and be themselves. This is so valuable for building community. It's especially valuable for new members and "code newbies," as it invites them into established groups and puts them at ease. I'm very glad I met Patricia and get to hang out with her at Techlahoma events and otherwise!

Geena is a ray of sunshine! She is always so patient setting up the stream for SheCode (sic) events, and having her around just automatically make (sic) you smile. She is so encouraging and kind to newcomers, and ensures they feel included. I think she represents the spirit of Techlahoma so well.
I appreciate her help in streaming for SheCodesOKC and speaking at OKC WebDevs!

She's excellent at guilding us to translate her designs from Figma into reality, and I'd like to nominate her for her expertise.
Can I saw bad a** on here? Melissa is a bad a** developer, mentor and leader. She has contributed to so many Techlahoma events like ThunderPlains, SheCodesOKC, and the new Hacklathon event. She always shows up with a smile ready to help wherever she is needed.

Karina gave one of the most engaging talks I've ever seein, as a lightning talk for SheCodesOKC. Every person I talk to who was at the event immediately remembers how exciting the talk was and how much they enjoyed it. Karina also was an active Techlahoma member and an awesome person.
Karina gave an excellent alk at SheCodesOKC about regex. It was the first time I think I've finally understood regular expressions. I'll be referring my team to her talk from now on when they want to know about regex! I also learned for the first time, about surgical commits during her previous talk.

Luigi has done an excellent job of getting the Norman scene going. We have a lot of interest in having event further south of OKC, and Luigi has tapped into that and kept interest high by organizing events and making everyone feel welcomed at them. He keeps a great energy going at event, including Coffee and Code meetups and Oklathon. Luigi is very knowledgeable and made the event fun and productive. Luigi is always helpful and volunteering. Luigi is a great person.

Amanda is excited about learning, even if it can be scary and hard. She's always up for meeting new people—in limited doses—and takes the time to teach others who are good at what they do in their respecive fields but haven't spent much time programming.
Finally, Amanda is kind and generous. Arguably, this is what stands out the most when I think about who is giving back to the local tech community. There's lots of talented folks that are regulars and are pleasant, but Amanda is on another level. I'm happy to call Amanda a friend and hope to learn from her example for years to come.
